It consists mainly of mangroves, but due to shrimp farming expansion, much of this ecosystem has been lost. The mangroves that remain are a source of life for five communities that have agreements for sustainable use and stewardship of the mangroves. With open hands, these five groups collect shells, and together, like a clenched fist, they fight for the mangroves.
